Not the greatest greek food!
First of all the greek salad doesn't have capers! Best place to go if you want really excellent and traditional greek food is to go to Astoria!

Authentic Greek food
We have been going to Greek Taverna for years, Edgewater at first, now Montclair. My daughter is vegetarian, so we always have their Greek salad, cheeses (Haloumi on the grill, taverna saganaki), their portobello grilled, with tomato sauce and topped with cheese. They make their own dessert, baklava is superb, Always loved it.

Terrible experience!!!!
DONT GO! I just had a horrible experience at this restaurant. We have gone to Greek Taverna many times and have generally liked the food. Tonight we went and were served ROTTEN DESSERT. When I alerted the waitress that it didnt taste right she went back to the counter and her and the other waiters and kitchen staff examined the dish and had a good laugh. I alerted the hostess of what was going on and she said she would comp the dessert. I said I wanted my whole meal ($40) comped and she refused. She then called the owner who also refused to comp my meal. It was a terrible experience and I warn anyone from trying this place. I am going to bed now hoping I dont wake up with a horrible stomach flu!!

Don't Bother
Very loud, so hard to hear your dinner companions. Disorganized reservation system. Plate for one companion came out well after the rest, so all our food got cold waiting. Food was mediocre, although fish was good. Didn't provide requested water. Deserts came well after coffee, with utensils plunked in middle of table. A generally unsatisfying experience for $30-40 per person.

Excellent food, good size portions. Most of the desserts made on premises. Good value for the money.

Delicious and plentiful
Delicious food from Tzatziki to Baklava. The traditonal beef stew was outstanding with a rich and tonato based, savory sauce, tangy sweet with onions with hints of cinnammon. my daughters pastisto was enough for 3 children and our Russian guest raved about the lamb. Glad I ignored the negative online entries.

Would not recommend.
Steak was 1/4 gristle and so salty it was barely edible.
